It’s real! But sadly, it’s everywhere. Not only are hurricanes increasing in frequency and intensity, but so are floods, tornadoes, heat waves, power grid strains. It seems no place is immune to the wrath of Mother Nature.
The islands where we are looking for property have elevations of up to 200 feet, which may not sound like much, and if in the direct path of a hurricane, this detail may offer little protection or comfort, but this is no different than any of the states with coastlines from Texas to Florida to New York. It will likely be generations before the properties we are looking at will face significant sea-level impacts, and that’s the point of our program. We want to be intentional in doing the kind of work that will mitigate these impacts, not only for our investors, but for the beneficiaries of our sanctuary and the island inhabitants as well, potcakes included! They already live here and others are still choosing these destinations for the vacation of a lifetime, and that’s not ending any time soon. We have a limited window of opportunity to get ahead of these impacts and that’s exactly what we intend to do, with your help. We may be unable to reverse climate change, and halting it in its tracks is a tall order, but there is evidence to suggest that it may be possible to mitigate the impacts and prepare for what’s next, and seeing what’s coming so we can land on our feet is definitely a big part of the Plan.
